Facilities Management Philosophy and Theory

Sanet Smith has been involved in the FM environment since 1996 when she became responsible for the curriculizing of the BTech in Facilities Management at the Tshwane University of Technology.


After her resignation as full time senior lecturer in the Business School at the TUT, she became involved in adult education through her organisation Global FM.


She successfully registered various courses and learning programs at the Services Seta.

She holds a BA in Sociology and Psychology, a B Cur , a BA Honores in Industrial Sociology, as well as a Master degree in the same field, all obtained from the University of Pretoria.

Sanet also completed the BSc in Facility Management from the Hanzehoogeschool of Groningen in the Netherlands.

She is passionate about research, and was appointed best research student of the Medical Faculty of UP in 1993. She was also appointed best lecturer at the TUT during 2001.


The combination of her qualifications and experience enabled her to teach Facilities management from a holistic point of view and consult in one of the first major PPP’s in the hospital environment in SA.

She is also a qualified ballet teacher, and enjoys visiting the theatre. Furthermore she enjoys travelling – her favourite destinations are the Scottish Highlands and the Botswana saltpans.





Space Management and Managing Functionality and Sustainability
He is MSc graduate of Sheffield Hallam University in Facilities Management, with a BSc degree in Facilities Management from Hanzehogeschool Van Groningen in Netherlands.
He is a certified Facility Manager as accredited by International Facility Management Association (IFMA), with a National Electrical Engineering Diploma from Technikon South Africa (TECNISA). He also has a management Diploma (MDP) with UNISA and recently successfully completed the Executive Development Programme (EDP) with UNISA.

He has completed range of short courses in the Property Management Field and others e.g. Diploma in Facilities Management, Certificate for Commercial Property Practitioner, Property Management, Property Development, Property Finance and Lease management.
He has a Diploma in Fundamental Principles of Estate Agency through the Estate Agency Board and Graduate Programme in Utility Management (focusing on Utility as a Power Station) with Global Utilities Institute (Samford University, School of Business).

He is a member of IFMA, BIFM, SAFMA and SAPOA.
He is currently employed by Eskom Holdings Limited as a Senior Manager Real Estate Facilities since from July 2012 reporting to the General Manager Real Estate.
His responsibility is to provide strategic Leadership to the delivery of Facilities Management Services of the requisite Standard, in respect of Eskom Real Estate, to meet the needs of the business and in compliance with Eskom policy and statutory provisions. 
He has been with Eskom Holdings for the past 18 years in various management positions namely; Facilities Manager for 3 years, Operations Regional Manager for 4 years and the Unit Manager for 2 years. He specializes in negotiating Commercial Leases.

As a Regional Operations Manager managing a diverse portfolio of this nature he is humbled by the growth and success achieved in not only building lasting relationships but also showing economic growth within his portfolio.

In his private capacity he spends many hours lecturing fellow prospective Facilities Management colleagues giving guidance and mentoring to promote professionalism within the industry.

He can comfortably say that he is accomplished in managing and interacting with people from all walks of life and different diversities.

He's a focused, process driven person that understands operations management within the dynamic environment of business and the service industry.He's a goal driven individual, with strong strategic planning and execution skills. He has excellent analysis and problem solving abilities.

Rochelle Damons holds sound management qualifications (including an MBA), coupled with a wealth of experience in the Real Estate sector. She has worked in various public and private entities.

She has a wealth of strategic, tactical and operational experience in facilities and property management. Rochelle has also been instrumental in presenting training within the FM sector.

She has extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with government as well the private sector.

Rochelle has also gained sound reputation in the market as an expert in the PPP environment and contract management, and has served on some of the best rated PPP’s in South Africa.

Her experience has been further enhanced by heading up the SPV/Private Sector Consortium for the first Municipal PPP.

NHD mechanical engineering and BTech degree Business Admin and Global FM.

Trained in mechanical engineering. Spent most of the time in HVAC environment.


Also did a lot of planning and scheduling as well as project palnning.


Operations manager for or Telkom contract at TFMC 12 years for the Gauteng area.


Left as Technical manager to JCI in 2009 for ABSA account as technical services manager for 2 years.


Changed over to Operations and went onto the BP, Philips and Tracker accounts as FM account manager for past 3 years.




Finance in FM, Project Management

He has a national diploma in Logistic acquired in 2006 at Tshwane University of Technology.


In 2011 he had acquired a National Certificate in Facilities Management with University of Free State and he continued to study in the field of facilities with Global FM School for Facilities Management and completed with the Global FM certificate in 2013.


He has also done Prince II Project Management with PM Academy.


He has just recently completed Strategic Sourcing and Commodity management with Commerce Edge.

He is enrolled with University of South Africa doing his last year Honors Degree in Logistic.


He is also enrolled with Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply doing his Diploma in Procurement and Supply.
